Consider the Classics
You certainly can’t go wrong with the classics. Neutrals such as brown, gray or black don’t look dated, and will work with whatever exterior color palette you choose, should you decide to change your siding and/or roof colors in the future. Navy blue and deep red also work if you want classic but richer colors.
Bright Colors Add Pop

Many homeowners hesitate to choose colors like bright red and lime green, but you shouldn’t. These may just be the element that would add that much-needed pop of color to your home. If bright colors are too much, consider darker shades of the same color.
Test Your Colors in Different Times of the Day
Some colors look different depending on the time of day, and you need a front door that looks good all of the time. Narrow down your choices to about half a dozen colors, then ask your contractor for sample swatches or cards. Place them against the siding or trim, and view them together in the morning, noon, sunset and in the evening. If you can’t decide between several colors, this is a good way to narrow down your choices.
Consider the Screen or Storm Door Color
If you are planning on adding a screen door or a storm door, consider how it will fit with your front door color selection. Some prefer the same or similar color for blending in, but if you choose a contrasting color, make sure it doesn’t take the focus away from the front door.
